On behalf of a customer, Spectrogon has coated detectors that has now been launched aboard the MetOp-SG A1 satellite. Among several instruments on board is IASI-NG, equipped with detectors featuring specially designed anti-reflection coatings developed and produced by Spectrogon. The project presented unique challenges due to the detectors’ high sensitivity. The work required both ESD protection and extensive testing and measurements.

MetOp-SG A1 is part of the European meteorological satellite organization EUMETSAT and will collect meteorological data to improve weather forecasts and climate analysis. And it was successfully launched aboard an Ariane 6 rocket, marking a proud moment for Spectrogon’s thin-film coatings in space.
